It uses technical words such as "error", "loading", "volume", and "overflow", like when a computer receives an error or when the loading bar is low, medium or high. The Monster-Handlers initially kept the lyrics of Rare Wubbox up to interpretation, but they were confirmed in the Anniversary Celebration 2021 trailer. Before this, some members of the community had interpreted the lyrics as malicious in nature or being lyrics sung in fear by the boxed Rare Monsters. On Water Island, it says "Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-tastic! Wub-Wub-Wub-ta-ta-ta-ta-tastic! Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-tastic. Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub-Wub- Error.” (Matthew Stewart) Wubbox originally was only available on Plant and Gold Islands, but has since been made available on 9 Islands. This is the only Monster that has different sounding Rare and Epic variants. It also is the only Common monster with a Rare variant that has a different animation than it.

Unlike the common Wubbox, the Rare can be bought for a song - as long as you're singing the right tune. In this inactive state, it's hard to tell what physically differentiates the two monsters, but the most striking contrast is the Rare Wubbox's modest bed count - it's only one! We're hoping to learn more once this cryptic creature is powered up with monsters and awakens to share its song. On Fire Haven, it says “Error! E-E-E-Error! B-B-Buffer overflow! B-B-B-B- Error! The only exception to this guideline is Wublin Island. This is most likely to ensure that its quiet idle sound plays in sync with the song of the island it is on.

On Natural/Fire Islands, Wubbox has a high coin production, comparable to Rare or Epic Quads and Ethereal Monsters. On Ethereal Island, it has the lowest shard production. On Wublin Island, it produces currency similarly to the other Wublins.
This means that Wubbox could technically be classified as cyborgs due to having organic parts, but it was still made by a monster as a robot instead of gaining robotic parts. Originally, players could only have a single Rare Wubbox on an island. Because of this, there was a bug that allowed players to have more than one Rare Wubbox per island while this restriction was in place. This is no longer possible due to the restriction being removed some time after Rare Wubbox released. Each monster needs to be fed four times before it reaches the next level. Increasing the monster's level increases the coins earned per minute, as well as the maximum coins earned.

The description of the inactive Wubbox used to mention the old Mine: "Just as the monsters were phasing out production of the old mines, they stumbled upon [...]" In the Collection of Monsters, if you attempt to look at a Rare monster that you haven't found it yet when it's not currently in event, that monster would be unavailable until you fill up a Rare Wubbox at once.
