About this deal

Pigeons have been found to pass the ‘mirror test’, the ability to recognise its own reflection in a mirror. The pigeon is one of only 6 species, and the only non-mammal, to have this ability Wild pigeons survive for greater age than domestic ones. Few breeds can even survive for around 30 years!

The first historical indication of there being religious significance associated with the domesticated pigeon was in 3000 BC during excavations of temples and tombs in Egypt, Mesopotamia (modern Iraq) and Crete. Images of pigeons were first found in an excavated temple dedicated to the goddess Ninhursag (Queen of Heaven and Earth) at Al’Ubaid in Sumeria. On the reconstructed façade of the temple, a limestone frieze was found showing a row of sitting pigeons. Another discovery, found in Copper/Bronze Age tombs (3rd/4th millennium BC) excavated on the island of Cyprus, revealed large number of clay bowls, some decorated with doves. These closely resemble similar clay bowls found on the island of Crete. The bowls are thought to have been used for sacrificial worship or have some other religious significance. Gold-Traders has compiled a gold hallmark identification wizard to help decipher the markings that are stamped on your item. Family Bolger (Ireland); winners 1st Nat. Valentina Isl. in Ireland against approx. 2,200 p. Winner is a grandson of Gold Dust and Konica (super brother Olympic Rosita). I tried this gun on 21g loads, and it cycled them flawlessly. A thing to note is that most of the mechanical wearing surfaces on the gun are easily replaced to ensure long service. On the first stand – two driven targets – I missed all six. I was worried as I am usually good at driven clays. I went on to another stand, considered by many to be challenging because of the fast quartering-away clays. (Read how to improve your clayshooting.) Young pigeons: GPSOL is given with drinking water in a dose of 15 ml per 1 litre of water at least 1 day a week. Predation: The wild pigeon is predated upon, almost exclusively, by the peregrine falcon, a bird that is also found living and breeding in coastal regions. The sparrowhawk may also predate on the wild pigeon. The feral pigeon has few if any natural predators, with man being the main threat to the bird in areas of human habitation. Paris 1900This was a considerable sum in 1896 and it therefore comes as no surprise to learn that members of these clubs were wealthy, with the sport attracting individuals from the House of Commons and the House of Lords and even royalty.

In young pigeons, systematic use of GPSOL helps in the optimal development of the young organism, bones, feather which is a guarantee for the future and the performance of young pigeons Derivation: The word ‘pigeon’ is derived from the Latin word ‘pipio’, meaning ‘young cheeping bird’. The word ‘dove’ is of Norse origin and first appeared in the 14th century as ‘dova’ or ‘douve’. The future for the turtle dove does not look positive with breeding habitats on the decline and large increases in illegal shooting and netting in Mediterranean areas. The large decline in numbers suggests that unless the bird is better protected it may become a rare and infrequent visitor to the UK and may eventually die out altogether. It swung through targets with grace and ease with its 30in barrels. The comb was slightly higher than on my Field I, which is what you’d expect on a Sporter over a field gun. In fact, the fit of the Silver Pigeon V was perfect for me. And this is one of the many reasons it’s such a popular gun; it fits just about everyone. This enables the shooter to make the most of their ability. The beavertail fore-end filled my hand nicely and offered good control of the gun. Pigeons, like humans, can see in colour, but unlike humans they can also see ultraviolet light, a part of the spectrum that humans cannot see. As a result, pigeons are often used in search and rescue missions at sea because of this unique sense combined with excellent all-round visionHabitat: The wild pigeon is found in coastal areas and the feral pigeon is found almost exclusively in areas of human habitation. For the Smyth brothers of Ballymena, Bobby and Hughie, the good harvest appeared in 1948 when they were 11th from Rennes, France, at a distance of 510 miles. Being named, Rennes Queen, she was one of only 12 birds in race time. This hen also took 18th Open from the same race point in 1949 beaten by her daughter, Northern Leader. The latter was 7th Open in a race where only twenty-five pigeons were timed. It’s when you shoot the Silver Pigeon that it comes into its own. The balance was around the hinge pin, giving the gun a wonderful neutral handling and made the gun feel relatively light when mounted.

We all often encounter these beautiful birds in day to day life. Now that we learnt different and popular varieties of pigeons across the globe let us unwind some interesting, and unknown facts about them. Pigeons are highly intelligent and can recognise all 26 letters of the alphabet as well as being able to conceptualise. Pigeons can differentiate between photographs and even two different human beings in a single photograph. These birds are great with multitasking. They can switch jobs, and still do the tasks at the same speed. When one writes about pigeons that have flown the route over and from Europe's mainland across the English Channel, over the island of Britain and then across the Irish Sea one seeks to pay tribute to those who have successfully faced what the Canadian, Gordon Chalmers, once described as ' The toughest of tough routes'. Therefore I offer this piece entitled 'Irish Pigeon Gold'. Unfortunately not every athletic stalwart can be considered due to the space available. Pigeons have strong muscles which are used to help in flying. Depending on their flying ability and range, their muscular abilities vary. They are tried and tested, so no issues there. Danny De Voogd (NL); wins 1st prize against 1,500 p. and 2nd prize against 1,700 p. with a descendant of Gold Dust. Pigeons are only herbivores. They are plant eaters, and diet mostly consists of fruits, seeds and small plants.

The Moroccan pigeon fancier Boulaaras Kamal is delighted with the NL19-1418130 bred from Skittel (super son Kittel) x Ruby (from son x sister Kittel) … children have already won a 4th prize 162 km against 2,332 p., 6th prize 398 km against 2,000 p. and a 9th prize 294 km against 2,218 p. Since early history, the pigeon has lived alongside man and been exploited by man for food, sport and as a messenger, courtesy of the birds’ unique ability to return to its nest and its mate from huge distances. The feral pigeon is now one of the most successful and resourceful species on the planet and is found in virtually every part of the globe with the exception of the Sahara Desert and the two Polar ice caps. The bird has adapted to survive in extreme weather conditions and in temperatures ranging from -50° to +50°, yet it has still managed to proliferate. The pigeon is one of the most intelligent species on the planet and able to undertake tasks that were previously thought to be the sole preserve of humans and primates. The pigeon can pass the ‘mirror test’ (being able to recognise its own reflection in a mirror) and can even recognise all 26 letters of the alphabet, and man has exploited this intelligence and these abilities for thousands of years. The pigeon has served man faithfully and often heroically throughout. However, in the 21st century the pigeon has at last outlived its usefulness and is slaughtered by the millions for commercial gain, often illegally, without a thought to the debt of gratitude that is owed to the bird. David Van Aalst (Australia); wins the 1st King Moora 215 km against 2,242 p. with a 9 minute lead. The 1st prize winner is a descendant of Gold Dust. The gun has a low-profile action, which helps to make it fast handling. The problem with this on a lot of Italian-made guns is that the gape can be tight when loading the bottom barrel. However, this gun offered enough finger room, which made for easy loading. Beretta Silver Pigeon V Sporter in detail
